Senator Thomas M. McGee, R.T. Paine and Barbara Metcalf and Eastern Bank were honored at the inaugural “Champions for North Shore Community College Recognition Breakfast” October 3 for decades of exceptional leadership on the North Shore and their impact on higher education.
The Metcalfs, of Beverly Farms, were honored in recognition of philanthropy and volunteerism to the college; State Senator Thomas M. McGee for his public service and advocacy; and Eastern Bank in recognition of community impact.
“We are pleased to celebrate our Champions of Higher Education who have partnered with NSCC for decades because they believe in our students’ success and the link between access to education and the vitality of our communities,” said Stephen Vesey, President of the NSCC Foundation. “Thanks to the contributions of today’s distinguished honorees, our students are finding their own “inner champion” at NSCC.”

Created in 1983, the Foundation’s scholarship program has awarded over $3.2 million in scholarships to 3,800 deserving NSCC students. Most recently the Foundation raised funding to provide technology for the college’s new addition to its Lynn campus.
