Liberty Mutual Discount

A unique partnership between Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and the North Shore Community College Alumni Association is a win-win which reaps benefits for both and results in NSCC students receiving needed assistance.

Liberty Mutual offers special rates on insurance through a NSCC alumni discount. This comprehensive program features home, auto and other personal insurance at discounted group rates (group discounts and availability may vary by state). Liberty Mutual provides the NSCC Alumni Association a percentage of the volume of alumni business. The Alumni Association is then able to use funds for scholarships, underwrite special student projects, and most recently to name the new Student Lounge in the Lynn extension on behalf of the college’s 40,000 alumni.

“This relationship has really helped the Alumni Association to grow and be more creative with our initiatives. The Board is very motivated to help students as a way of giving back for what we received from this college when we were here. Thanks to Liberty Mutual we can continue to grow our contributions,” said Lesley Peters, ’97, president of the Alumni Association.

Paul Minear, pictured center, Executive Sales Representative with Liberty Mutual, brought the partnership to NSCC from one he started at Salem State University, noting that it is the only community college partnership the company is engaged in.

“The program works both ways. We would like to see it grow so the Board can do even more with the proceeds. We would like students to know who we are before they leave and become alumni. As long as a person identifies as entering the system under NSCC’s umbrella they will be tagged and when they become alumni the benefits will begin to flow back to the college,” Minear said.

He outlined that home insurance customers can get discounts for new home credits, burglary alarm systems, and other protective devices. Liberty Mutual offers: convenient payment plans including deductions from checking accounts or direct home billing; no monthly service or finance charges; no down payments for account deductions; and personalized service from more than 440 offices across the US and Canada.
