For the second year in a row, North Shore Community College’s Respiratory Care Program has received outstanding news from COARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) concerning their graduates’ passing percentages on national licensing examinations.

NSCC’s Respiratory Care Program graduates achieved the highest pass rates in Massachusetts on the CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist – required to practice and obtain a license) and for the RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist – the advanced credential) national licensure exams.  The national average for success on the CRT exam is 92.5% – NSCC scored 100% and the national average for the RRT exam is 72.7% – NSCC scored above that average at 89.3%.

“Respiratory Care graduates from NSCC continue to perform above the national average while competing against not only associate degree programs but bachelor degree programs as well,” said Professor Geri Twomey, Director of NSCC’s Respiratory Care Program.  “Graduates readily find employment and are often recruited before graduation to full-time positions in and around Boston. The program is well-known and has a reputation for preparing competent therapists who meet the needs of the workforce.”
