Alex Stone ‘11, Founder & CEO of Athletes of Valor www.athletesofvalor.com, has been chosen to serve as North Shore Community College’s (NSCC) Alumni representative to the college’s Board of Trustees. His five-year term begins this September.
Athletes of Valor helps veterans transition from service to career by leveraging the power of collegiate sports. Team sports are proven to have a positive impact both mentally and physically on military veterans by providing a purpose and natural support structure. In addition to placing veterans on college teams, AOV supports its members throughout their college experience, and connects them with corporate partners for internship and employment opportunities.
The elected Alumni Trustee must be an NSCC graduate. Duties include selecting and annually evaluating the college president, setting fee schedules, ensuring an annual independent audit, and providing appropriate governance of the college, among other accountabilities.
